CS:GO is a GO

So a few days ago Valve released proof that Counter Strike: Global Offensive is in development. Apparently they had been showcasing (read: testing) their new game to some of the professional players on the CS tour. For once, NDA's actually worked, because honestly, I hadn't heard jack about it til Friday. Sure, maybe a whisper of a sequel, but nothing substantial.

However, if you're looking for a pure sequel, this is definitely not it. Testers have said that it wasn't like 1.6, nor was it like CS:S, but still very good. And some little quirks here and there were added, one in particular, every player starts with a kevlar vest. To most, it won't be a bother, but it does shake things up a bit, since kevlar was traditionally purchased, and not just given.

Serious Sam 3, Round 2

So I heard a lot of you say you liked the series, but may not have known about a new SS coming out. Well, here's the low down. Serious Sam 3 is the prequel to Serious Sam: The First Encounter. It's set around 22nd century Egypt, fighting similar enemies to those in the First Encounter, Mental's legion. There's really not a whole lot story wise about Sam 3 yet, but if the interest stays high, I may run with it as details are available.

I think the biggest draw to the series, however, is the multiplayer. I know I'm not alone when I say it looks like it's going to be one wicked match after another for me for the first few days after it drops. And of course, the split-screen, as was mentioned in the last post. Lastly, health does not regenerate, and there is no cover. You'll be scrambling for health pick-ups just like in the good ol' days.

Here's a Teaser Trailer for those that haven't seen it yet.

And for those that want to, but haven't played the series yet, the Steam link.

Sam 3 Bringin' the Nostalgia

Nostalgia? Yup, they got it. Four-player split screen is going into the new Serious Sam. This series has a pretty decent track record of treating us PC gamers with some respect, and this is just another reason to hold Croteam up there. I know I'll be getting this game when it drops. If you guys do too, let me know. We'll do it up in multiplayer.

Haters Gonna Hate

Looks like Notch and crew (creator of Minecraft) got themselves into a little hot water with their new game Scrolls. Bethesda lawyers sent them a letter saying "Scrolls" infringes on their trademark, and could be confused for their game "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim." Notch tweeted about it here. Let's just hope that Bethesda's lawyers are just being lawyers and don't plan to actually pursue this obviously overreaching "infringement." Scrolls is a pretty broad word. Let's hope they don't decide they want to send letters to all of the platformers, since they're side-SCROLLing games, too.

Diablo 3 - Real Auction House

Looks like Blizzard is trying to stamp out the item sellers by introducing two auction houses in Diablo 3. An in-game currency auction house (with gold), and a real currency auction house (with $). I have a pretty good feeling about it, as opposed to some of the community. Some say it'll destroy the game as we knew it. I say, let 'em have it. The ones that are gonna do it, will do it anyway, and the ones that would have abstained, will still abstain. Not only that, it'll drastically reduce the number of people that lose their account to hackers and the like. Unfortunately, I think we'll still be seeing the broken English gold spam.
